Behrens Ranch is 500 acres of former ranchland — a working cattle ranch for roughly a century before the first homes went in around 2001 — at Sam Bass Road and Wyoming Springs Drive in west Round Rock. Homes run from about 2,000 to well over 5,000 square feet, often with three-car garages and generous lots, and the community keeps its own clubhouse, pools, splash pad, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, and more than two miles of hike-and-bike trails, with Cactus Ranch Elementary inside the neighborhood.
Twenty-plus years in, most of these houses have been updated — kitchens, floors, baths — and the backyards mostly haven't. The original patios are small uncovered slabs, and the decks built alongside them are at the end of their service lives. That's the bulk of our Behrens Ranch work: tearing out what's tired and rebuilding an outdoor room that matches how the rest of the house has been brought forward.
This side of Round Rock is also different ground from the east side, and it matters. Behrens Ranch sits west of the Balcones fault on thin soil over Edwards limestone rather than the deep expansive clay east of I-35. That's good news for stability — but it means footings, pergola posts, and drain trenches get cut through rock, and thin soil over stone sheds water fast instead of absorbing it. We plan for both before we break ground, and you work with one team the whole way through.
